Steve Jobs: Business Leader. Genius. Asshole?

steve jobs by walter isaacson, photo by albert watsonThere is probably no single brand I identify with more than the Apple brand. Apple products have had a massive impact on my life. I’ve probably spent upwards of $20,000 over the last 20 years on mac related software and hardware. It has been worth every penny.

I came into college right at the moment they integrated the Mac into the graphic design program. I have never practiced design without the computer. That may seem obvious to anyone under 30, but my life and chosen profession were dramatically influenced by the advent of the personal computer.

Hollywoodis a business. It’s just disguised pretty well. Storytelling is a religion. People can connect to stories deeply. One funds—and eventually feeds off of—the other. Great storytelling doesn’t always make great money. Sometimes the art of story is the least important part of the business of film and television.

The vast majority of people on the web are consuming content. They are watching movies, reading news, listening to music, playing games, etc. All of it is some form of consumption of data. From the moment they turn on their smartphone to that last login on their computer, their day is influenced by the content they absorb.
